Dear parishioners of Parish Family #10, 
            Last Sunday we celebrated the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, the Body and Blood of Our Lord, the Eucharist. The Lord calls us to receive His Body and Blood in order to nourish our spiritual life. Then, at the end of Mass, we are sent to embody his word and proclaim it, evangelizing with our testimony of life, giving witness to the presence of Christ among us. The connection between the Holy Eucharist and evangelization is unbreakable. The Holy Eucharist leads us to evangelization because our ability to proclaim the gospel is born from Christ’s Passion and Resurrection. Our mission as Church is to proclaim the gospel, the Good News of the salvation that Jesus won for us through his Passion, Death, and Resurrection. In order to be able to fulfill our mission, we see the need to make some changes.

            As you know, next July 1^st, 2024, our parishes of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and St. Pius X join together as one, into Parish Family #10. It is a wonderful opportunity to share our experience and gifts, but above all to celebrate the Eucharist at both places bringing together cultures, customs and enriching our relationship with Our Lord Jesus Christ. All in one same spirit and one same faith, as children of the same Father.

            This is a challenge not just for the Archdiocese, but for us and our local communities as well. For us priests it means effort, openness to change, and availability to serve efficiently and effectively in both campuses.

            After prayerful discernment before God, one of the first steps we will take beginning July 1 is the adjustment of weekday Mass times at both parishes, while Sunday Masses remain unchanged for the moment. Even when we will have three priests serving this Family (thanks be to God), there are currently 11 Sunday Masses and 10 weekday Masses combined. To that we add weddings, baptisms, funerals, quinceañeras, confessions on Wednesdays (am and pm) and Saturdays at 3pm. You will see in the attached chart that one of the changes is to move morning mass at St Pius to 9am, this is due to the schedule we keep as religious priests in our community. We Missionaries of the Holy Spirit living in community gather together for morning prayers and adoration. Our religious way of life calls us to pray, eat, and live in community, therefore we will not be able to start Mass at 8am. Traffic must also be considered, taking into account the 20-30 minutes’ drive. At St Elizabeth the evening masses in Spanish will be removed, except for Fridays and Feast Days, when mass will be at 7pm. Holy days of obligation will be celebrated at 7pm on the vigil (day before) in Spanish, and 9am and 7pm in English on the day. Mass on Saturday morning will be cancelled, except on Feast Days. You can see that the celebration of the Eucharist will continue to be widely available at both parishes, even when some of them will happen at different times than we are used to. We must always remember that our participation in the Eucharist is the foundation of our spiritual life. Let us be open to the graces of the Holy Spirit and allow ourselves to be led in this transition process. See below for more information about the changes listed above.

Queridos feligreses de la Familia de Parroquias nº10: 
            El domingo pasado celebramos la solemnidad de (Corpus Cristi) el Cuerpo y la Sangre de Nuestro Señor, La Eucaristía. Nuestro Señor nos invita a recibir su cuerpo y sangre para nutrir nuestra vida espiritual. Y al final de la Misa todos somos enviados a encarnar su palabra y proclamar y evangelizar con nuestro ejemplo de vida la presencia de Cristo entre nosotros. La conexión entre la Santa Eucaristía y la evangelización es inquebrantable. La Santa Eucaristía nos lleva a la evangelización ya que nuestra habilidad de anunciar el evangelio nace de la Pasión y la Resurrección de Cristo. Nuestra misión como Iglesia es anunciar el Evangelio, la Buena Nueva de la salvación que nos alcanzó Jesús con su Pasión, Muerte y Resurrección. Para poder llevar a cabo nuestra misión, nos vemos obligados a hacer algunos cambios.

            Como ya saben en Julio 1, 2024, nuestras iglesias Sta. Elizabeth Ann Seton y San Pío X, se unen como una sola familia, la Familia de Parroquias nº 10. Es una gran oportunidad para compartir nuestra experiencia y talentos, pero sobre todo para celebrar la Santa Eucaristía en los dos lugares uniendo culturas y costumbres y nutriendo nuestra relación con Nuestro Señor Jesús. Todos con un solo espíritu y una misma fe, como hijos de un solo Padre.

Este nuevo reto no solo es para la Arquidiócesis, sino también para nosotros como iglesia y grupos locales. También para nosotros como sacerdotes implica un esfuerzo, apertura y disponibilidad para servir eficiente y efectivamente en ambas iglesias. 

            Después de orar y discernir delante de Dios, uno de los primeros pasos que se llevarán a cabo iniciando Julio 1, 2024, será ajustar las Misas entre semana en las dos iglesias, sin hacer cambios en las Misas dominicales por el momento. Si bien tendremos, gracias a Dios, tres sacerdotes sirviendo a esta Familia de Parroquias, en total son en este momento 11 Misas dominicales y 12 misas entre semana, además de bodas, bautismos, funerales, quinceañeras, confesiones los miércoles en la mañana y en la tarde, y los sábados en la tarde a las 3pm. Notarán en el cuadro adjunto que uno de los cambios es mover el horario de la Misa de la mañana en San Pío a las 9am, esto se debe al horario que como sacerdotes religiosos cumplimos en nuestra comunidad, donde los Misioneros del Espíritu Santo, viviendo en comunidad, hacen oración y adoracion juntos por la mañana. Nuestro estilo de Vida Religiosa nos exhorta a hacer oración, comer y vivir en comunidad. Por esta razón no podríamos celebrar Misa a las 8:00 am en San Pío.   El tráfico es otro factor ya que hay que considerar la distancia de 20-30 minutos. También para Sta. Elizabeth Ann Seton se cancelarían las Misas entre semana en español excepto los viernes, cuando se movería el horario a las 7pm. Los días de fiesta se celebrarán de la siguiente manera: la vigilia en español a las 7pm (el día antes de la Fiesta) y el día de Fiesta en inglés a las 9am y 7pm. No habrá misa los sábados en la mañana a las 9am excepto en días de fiesta. Como ven, la celebración de la Eucaristía seguirá estando ampliamente disponible en ambas parroquias, y aunque no sea en los días o horarios acostumbrados, la celebración estará disponible. No olvidemos nunca que la participación en la Eucaristía es el principio y fundamento de nuestra vida espiritual.
